My Review

This was such a great read, the suspense was slowly paced and I was kept guessing as to what happened in Astrids life as an alcoholic before she joined AA.

I have no idea on this subject and found it extremely interesting reading about the daily struggles and the personal fight someone who is trying to beat an alcohol addiction.

Astrid is a fantastic character, she is a lot stronger then she gives herself credit for. Staying with her mum in a sleepy town she has cut herself off from absolutely everyone due to her addiction, her mum has given her one final chance to go to AA and try and conquer her disease, but Astrid has a secret in her that her brain won’t allow her to remember, that is until she starts to smell her ex Simons after shave everywhere and then the memory is coming back piece by piece very slowly.. but it isn’t Simon after her, someone knows her secret, the secret she can’t quite remember but she knows much be bad enough that she and Simon vowed to never tell another soul..

..just when I thought I had guessed who the person hunting Astrid was I was completely shocked to learn it was someone who I originally suspected and then abandoned!!!

one of the best bits about this book is every other chapter there is a snippet from the person who is staking Astrid, in these snippets you get to hear the dark thoughts in this persons mind and what they want to do to her..

that kept me really guessing and I loved those little inserts.

I can’t recommend this book enough, it kept me page turning all the way through and really made me connect with the main character. was it murder?? What was it that she and Simon did in a drunken stupor that was so bad when she woke up she had blood on her sleeve and a vague memory of a young woman and a screaming baby??

grab a copy and find out ....
