Synopsis
They don't know what I did.
And I intend to keep it that way.
How far would you go to win?
When Milla is invited to a reunion in the French Alps resort that saw the peak of her snowboarding career, she drops everything to go. While she would rather forget the events of that winter, the invitation comes from Curtis, the one person she can't seem to let go.
The five friends haven't seen each other for ten years, since the disappearance of the beautiful and enigmatic Saskia. But when an icebreaker game turns menacing, they realise they don't know who has really gathered them there and how far they will go to find the truth.
In a deserted lodge high up a mountain, the secrets of the past are about to come to light.
Thank you @Headline for this stunning proof
My Review
The story opens with Mila, she has been invited to the alps on a reunion trip.
She has not seen this group of friends in ten years, not since the incident.
Back in the day Mila had dreams of being a pro snowboarder and spent months at a time surrounded with a group of like minded people on the snow practising and all competing for the competition for that year although some friendships were closer then others, all competing against each other the pressure was on and no one wanted to lose. Saskia and Curtis were well known and very good out on the snow, they befriend Mila and it isn't long before they are drinking together and exchanging stories, but Mila doesn't really know Saskia and soon discovers that in order to take out any competition she will be ruthless in any way necessary.
When all of them arrive at the top of the mountain they soon discover that they are alone and no staff are around to help them, after having a look around for anyone else they all gather in the function suite. Someone has set out a game of truth and its at this point that they realise that they have not been gathered to remember old times, someone holds a grudge and wants to find out who, ten years ago killed Saskia.
But everyone of them had a reason to want Saskia dead, she was selfish, manipulative and down right mean when she wanted to get her own way. one by one things start to go wrong, fingers are pointed and they all realise that they are not safe and they are definitely not alone, but is it Saskia thats back, out for revenge or is it one of them pretending to be scared but secretly out for blood.
Why I Loved It
This story kept me hooked from start to finish, I devoured it in one sitting and for the most part could not guess who it was that had lured them all to the isolated lodge in the icy mountains, and even then it was only a hunch that flittered in and out as I read.
Extremly similar to a locked room scenario, all of the people were guilty of something and could all have been the culprit that lured them all there.
This was so cleverly written that I was constantly changing my mind as to who could be the one and loved how intense the story got the closer you get to the end, gasping out loud when you finally get to read what happened to Saskia.
One things for sure. This book will certainly make you SHIVER!!!
