Hey Bookworms
First Lines Fridays is my weekly feature for all you bookworms out there in need a little inspiration.
I have been posting these over on Instagram for a while but decided to further my reach.
Each Friday I will attempt to hook you in by posting the first handful of lines of a book that I recommend for you all to read, this way I can allow the story to grab you with the magic of its opening lines rather then an eye grabbing cover or a catchy blurb adorning the back.
Then I will reveal the book and include purchase links at the end.
The first lines of this week's chosen book are. . .
‘𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘥. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦, 𝘋𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘋𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘶𝘱. 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘴.

It’s finally F R I D A Y!
An end to a working week for most adults and kids much like my household 🙃
For this weeks #firstlinesfriday I have chosen this beautiful book that I was kindly sent
By @myriad_editions @emma.dowson.94
• Have the first handful of lines caught you the way they caught me ?? 🤔
I love the sound of this one and can not wait to get round to it next month 🤓
The synopsis is below 👇🏻
--------------
A More Perfect Union
Based on real events brilliantly reimagined, this is an epic story of love and courage, desperation and determination, and three people who are inescapably entwined in each other's lives.
Henry O'Toole sails to America to escape poverty and famine in Ireland, only to find anti-Irish prejudice awaiting him. Determined never to starve again, he changes his surname to Taylor and heads south to Virginia, where he can pick up work as a travelling blacksmith on the prosperous plantations.
Maple is a slave on Jubilee Plantation. Given to her half-sister as a wedding present by their father, she longs to return to her daughter and husband. When sassy house slave Sarah arrives, she sees her chance at last to be reunited with her own family.
Sarah has her own troubles. She has to learn to navigate the hierarchy of her fellow slaves as well as the power system of her new white masters, and now the mysterious blacksmith is promising her the world, and her freedom too.
What do you think?
Does this sound like a book you would love to read?
