- First Lines Fridays - January 22nd 2021 -

Hey Bookworms

First Lines Fridays is my weekly feature for all you bookworms out there in need a little inspiration.

I have been posting these over on Instagram for a while but decided to further my reach.

Each Friday I will attempt to hook you in by posting the first handful of lines of a book that I recommend for you all to read, this way I can allow the story to grab you with the magic of its opening lines rather then an eye grabbing cover or a catchy blurb adorning the back.

Then I will reveal the book and include purchase links at the end.

The first lines of this week's chosen book are. . .

The Dark by Emma Haughton

Happy F R I D A Y bookfam,

How eerie is this proof copy of what is set to be a truly thrilling read!

How much does that first page capture you?

It gives you a sneak peak as to the vibe of the story and pretty much warns you to expect more.

One dead, Twelve suspects and total darkness whilst surrounded in the freezing Antarctic.

Set to be the most electrifying debut for 2021, you will not want to miss out on this read!

And how gorgeously dark and sinister is my proof copy!!

I had such a great time at the HodderFiction 2021 Showcase last night and after hearing the author speak about this one I just knew it had to be my First Lines Friday pick.

I was so lucky to get sent a copy of this one by the lovely team at Hodder within my goodie box that was sent ahead in time for the event, alongside The Stranding by Kate Sawyer and some yummy popcorn.

Publication date is 5th August 2021 (preorder below)

Heres the synopsis ↓ ↓ ↓

How fantastically chilling does this story sound?

Thank you so much @Hodder&Stoughton for this advanced copy.
