- First Lines Fridays January 8th 2021 -

Hey Bookworms

First Lines Fridays is my weekly feature for all you bookworms out there in need a little inspiration.

I have been posting these over on Instagram for a while but decided to further my reach.

Each Friday I will attempt to hook you in by posting the first page of a book that I recommend for you all to read, this way I can allow the story to grab you with the magic of its opening lines rather then an eye grabbing cover or a catchy blurb adorning the back.

Then I will reveal the book and include purchase links at the end.

The first lines of this week's chosen book are. . .

The Road Trip by Beth o Leary

Happy F R I D A Y bookfam,

OK so how excited are you for the next book by Beth o Leary?

If you have read The Flatshare and The Switch then you will be with me in saying that im so excited that I gave the tiniest squeal of delight when I opened this stunning arc copy.

So far for me The flat share was my favourite but after reading the blurb and typing out this first page for you all I'm not sure if that will remain the case!

Publication date is April 29th 2021 (preorder below)

Heres the synopsis ↓ ↓ ↓

Addie and her sister are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend's wedding in rural Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are packed.

But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie's ex, Dylan, who she's avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.

Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too, and they've totalled their car, so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride.

The car is soon jam-packed full of luggage and secrets, and with four hundred miles ahead of them, Dylan and Addie can't avoid confronting the very messy history of their relationship...

Will they make it to the wedding on time? And, more importantly... is this really the end of the road for Addie and Dylan?

How amazing does this story sound?
