Hey Bookworms
First Lines Fridays is my weekly feature for all you bookworms out there in need a little inspiration.
I have been posting these over on Instagram for a while but decided to further my reach.
Each Friday I will attempt to hook you in by posting the first handful of lines of a book that I recommend for you all to read, this way I can allow the story to grab you with the magic of its opening lines rather then an eye grabbing cover or a catchy blurb adorning the back.
Then I will reveal the book and include purchase links at the end.
The first lines of this week's chosen book are. . .

THE NESTING by C.J Cooke
Happy bookfam, its finally Friday and I for one can not be happier.
So how amazing does this story sound?
i was totally drawn in by that first page and find myself extremly eager to read the rest.
I was kindly #gifted this beautiful read for a #blogtour by @HarperCollins and #RandomTTours which is due up on October 20th ✨
I absolutely adore a good gothic fairytale and this one seems to have it all.
Scary, dark and a beautifully vivid storyline, I can see myself immersing myself fully within this one.
💬 Can you name a gothic folklore story that chilled you enough to stick forever in your memory ?
Lets Take a peek at synopsis is below 👇🏻
The Nesting
It was like something out of a fairytale…
The grieving widower. The motherless daughters. A beautiful house in the woods.
Deep in a remote Norwegian forest, Lexi has found a new home with architect Tom and his two young daughters. With snow underfoot and the sound of the nearby fjord in her ears, it’s as if Lexi has stepped into a fairy tale.
But this family has a history – and this place has a past. Something was destroyed to build their beautiful new house. And those ancient, whispering woods have a long memory.
Lexi begins to hear things, see things that don’t make sense.
She used to think this place heavenly, but in the dark, dark woods, a menacing presence lurks.
With darkness creeping in from the outside, Lexi knows she needs to protect the children in her care.
But protect them from what?
What do you think?
Does this sound like a book you would love to read?
