Hey Bookworms
First Lines Fridays is my weekly feature for all you bookworms out there in need a little inspiration.
I have been posting these over on Instagram for a while but decided to further my reach.
Each Friday I will attempt to hook you in by posting the first handful of lines of a book that I recommend for you all to read, this way I can allow the story to grab you with the magic of its opening lines rather then an eye grabbing cover or a catchy blurb adorning the back.
Then I will reveal the book and include purchase links at the end.
The first lines of this week's chosen book are. . .

By April Genevieve Tucholke
Hey #bookworms
HappyFriday!!!
My attempt to lure you into a read with just the first handful of lines for #FirstLinesFridays this week is the gloriously dark & spellbinding
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 by April Genevieve Tucholke 📖
I’ve had this one on my shelves for absolutely ages & really need to get round to reading it..
I love books with witches in & this one sounds like one of those I’ll regret not picking up sooner 🤓
I’ve added the synopsis below 👇🏻
xoxo
The Boneless Mercies
They called us the Mercies, or sometimes the Boneless Mercies. They said we were shadows, ghosts, & if you touched our skin we dissolved into smoke ...
Frey, Ovie, Juniper, & Runa are Boneless Mercies – death-traders, hired to kill quickly, quietly & mercifully. It is a job for women, & women only. Men will not do this sad, dark work.
Frey has no family, no home, no fortune, & yet her blood sings a song of glory. So when she hears of a monster slaughtering men, women, & children in a northern jarldom, she decides this the Mercies’ one chance to change their fate.
But glory comes at a price
💬 Have I tempted you???
What was the last Witchcraft book you read?
For me it was The Year Of The Witching by Alexis Henderson
See my review HERE
It was such a brilliant story, thrilling, dark and packed full of witchcraft, power and female empowerment.

The Year Of The Witching
Born on the fringes of Bethel, Immanuelle does her best to obey the Church and follow Holy Protocol. For it was in Bethel that the first Prophet pursued and killed four powerful witches, and so cleansed the land.
And then a chance encounter lures her into the Darkwood that surrounds Bethel.
It is a forbidden place, haunted by the spirits of the witches who bestow an extraordinary gift on Immanuelle. The diary of her dead mother . . .
Fascinated by and fearful of the secrets the diary reveals, Immanuelle begins to understand why her mother once consorted with witches. And as the truth about the Prophets, the Church and their history is revealed, so Immanuelle understands what must be done. For the real threat to Bethel is its own darkness.
Bethel must change.
And that change will begin with her . . .
What do you think?
Does this sound like a book you would love to read?
