Synopsis..

There is a stranger outside Caroline's house.

As her marriage collapses around her and the lavish lifestyle she's built for herself starts to crumble, Caroline turns to Aidan for comfort…and revenge. After a brief and desperate fling that means nothing to Caroline and everything to him, Aidan's obsession with Caroline, her family, and her house grows more and more disturbing. And when Caroline's husband goes missing, her life descends into a nightmare that leaves her accused of her own husband's murder.

My Review...

This was a fantastic read. A twisty thriller about love, betrayal and friendships.

You are completely drawn in and kept on the teetering edge of what is the truth and what is lies. A completely shocking read that will make you question yourself over and over again.

Told from two different points of view.

Caroline...

After a complete shock of her husband Turing up to their party at the beach house with another woman and being told that her husband was leaving her Caroline goes off the rails and drowns her sorrow in the bottom of a bottle.

She ends up in the local bar where she meets Aiden, the bartender.

She recognises him as the man who she keeps seeing staring at her house on the beach, the guy who she said hello to the other day.

When Aiden comes over and offers her a drink, considering what her husband is doing to her she decides to have a little flirt, with the alcohol in her system she feels brave and decides to allow the young man to sit and spend the evening drinking with her.

unable to drive her car back home, Aiden offers to drive her back and she takes him inside and ends up having a one night stand with this handsome, sexy young man, who ordinarily she would no speak to as there was a class barrier, but what harm could it do? she was now single and he was very willing...

But how did this one nights stand ens up with her husband dead and her on the run?

Aiden

Aiden cannot believe his luck when the rich lady who built that massive house on the land where he grew up with his grandfather was here, in his bar giving him the eye..

He would not have expected the likes of her to even talk to him, let alone frequent that place with its cheap seaside chintz but here she was and she wanted his attention.

After spending the evening together he has drove her home and now she is leading him to her bedroom...

He literally cannot believe this is happening to him... he is falling for her already.

Every chapter is a different perspective on what is happening throughout the story, from Carolines side, Aiden is a possessive love struck man. Hell bent on making sure they are together and insisting that he will deal with her husband, get him out of the way so they can be happy. But Caroline doesn't want that, it was just a one night stand. She wants her husband back and now risen is stalking her, becoming increasingly bad tempered and she doesn't know how to solve the issue. Everything points to Aiden having killed the husband for Caroline so they can be together.

Aidens side is completely different, he really likes Caroline but doesn't understand why she keeps confusing him with mixed signals.

She even asked him to murder her husband so that he would be out of the picture..

I had no clue all the way through who was actually telling the truth, I loved the twist at the end and didn't guess it at all, and I was forever changing my mind as to who the culprit actually was.

Michele Campbell is a graduate of Harvard College and Stanford Law School and a former federal prosecutor in New York City who specialised in international narcotics and gang cases.
