Synopsis
In this companion tale to the bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series, Feyre, Rhys and their friends are working to rebuild the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond after the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin.
But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it a hard-earned reprieve.
Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated - scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.
My Review
"To family old and new. Let the Solstice festivities begin."
At the end of Book Three everyone was still coming to terms with all that had happened during the war with Hybern. Within this story you read how everyone is doing and where they are at. Feyre is busy being High Lady of there Night Court, Rhysand is busy keeping alliances and maintaining a delicate peace, Elain is coming to terms with her new fae body and starting to come out of her shell more, Az, Cassian, Mor and Amren are all accepting their new roles within maintaining the delicate balance of rules and how to handle the change of them, Yet Nesta has gone, she will not be around the family and insists on living a basic slum life. This story is a lovely way to round up Feyre and Rhysand's journey from beginning to end and how they settle into their new lives, seeing Rhysand's inner circle heal after the war and how they heal their own scars.
Why I Loved It
Why did I love this book... it was the perfect end to a trust epic series!
Rhysand and Feyre are my most favourite fictional couple and I absolutely adored watching their relationship grow. Was this book as exciting as the previous three, No? But it is special in a different way.
I loved how we read from everyones own perspective of what was happening, how you got to read where they are after the war with Hybern. Typically the three previous books were wrote from Rhysand and Feyre's perspective with the occasional drop in with the others but this one allowed us to see how they are all doing individually which I loved.
It is the perfect companion novella to allow you to see where everyone has ended up.
There is also an extra chapter at the back for her next story going on from Feyre called A Court Of Silver Flames and if im correct it will follow Nesta and Cassian, im super excited for that one.
As always, I highly recommend this series and will definitely be re reading again in the future.
