My Review

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of @elodielharper - #TheWolfDen trilogy had me totally hooked from start to finish, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on #Boudicca’sDaughter. I had high expectations going in, and honestly? It might be one of my favorite reads yet.

The story follows Solina, occasionally her sister Bellini’s, the daughters of the fierce warrior queen Boudicca, in the brutal aftermath of the Iceni rebellion. From the moment Solina is captured and dragged into the heart of the Roman Empire, I was completely drawn in. Elodie has such a gift for writing layered, complex women, and Solina is no exception! She’s proud, strong, and vulnerable all at once, this I absolutely loved about her.

I was fully invested in her journey: her life before and after capture, the way she navigated the unfamiliar world of Rome, and especially the slow-burning, complicated relationship she forms with Lucius, the Roman who first captured her then takes her into his household. Their connection felt so real and emotionally charged—it had me constantly torn between hope and heartbreak. I was regularly conflicted 🫣

Why I Loved It

One of the standout moments for me was that incredible scenes of Solina as a slave for the Emporer and his wife. It was so raw and powerful—I could feel the fire within her to never give up or give in, the grief and rage channeled into that fierce, unstoppable energy. It really set the tone for the rest of the book and stayed with me long after I finished reading.

It’s safe to say I couldn’t put this book down. The writing is as evocative and emotional as ever, and Solina’s story gripped me from the first page to the last. If you loved The Wolf Den trilogy like I did, you’ll find so much to love here too. It’s another stunning portrayal of womanhood, survival, and love in the harshest of times.

🫶Thank you for this stunning early copy.
