Synopsis
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.

My Review
Through love, all is possible
Bryce Quinlan is half Fae, half human smart ass party girl. Raised by her mother and step father, Bryce only meets her biological father at age thirteen when she has to face the Oracle to see her future. That man is the Autumn King. He isn’t impressed with her prediction and basically kicks her to the curb. Together with her best friend Danika, the two women work hard and party hard whilst sharing the same flat.
After a night out fuelled by drink and drugs with friends Bryce staggers home to find her world has been totally turned upside down. This sends her on a spiral of self destruction for a couple of years, until she is approached by the Archangel of Crescent City, Micah to help investigate what happened as and help find the Fae missing artefact that was also stolen that night two years ago. It’s clear the two events are related.
Bryce begrudgingly teams up with Hunt Athalar, a powerful angel who is enslaved to Micah and is feared as The Shadow Of Death. Bryce gives him nothing but aggregation and sass until she realises that together they might actually solve the crime, find out who took the horn and why ancient old demons keep appearing and killing people.
Hunt also soon realises that the sassy, smart mouthed party girl is just a front and not who she truly is.
This is the first adult book by this author.
Why I Loved It
I loved this book! At first I was unsure wether it was for me or not as the first quarter ish of the book is very info heavy but once you get past that it’s an absolutely brilliant and gripping read.
The story is packed full of an array of different characters, Fae, Angels, Wolves, Vampires, Mer people plus much more, each one as intriguing as the next. My favourite character was Lehabah the fire sprite! I adored everything about this character. I absolutely loved the friendship between Bryce and Denika. The way this is portrayed within the book really allows you to feel there bond and the unconditional love they have for each other.
There is a huge shock at the beginning of the book which sets you up for a great read, just get past the heavy intro and it’s all worth it! I almost cried three times towards the end and was left totally wanting more and of course this author is the queen of writing sexual tension 😉
