Fantasy Genre Series Edit

Caraval and ACOTAR

Hey book friends This is part one to my Fantasy book recommended reads. Personally I was a little late coming to this genre, not choosing certain reads as I didn’t like the covers ( yep I know, I quite literally judged a book by its cover ) but after getting over myself and giving them a try I actually found that with the right book, this genre is actually becoming a fast favourite of mine! So read on, check out my reviews and if you haven’t tried Fantasy yet, I hope I have tempted you to give it a go! I haven’t looked back since 😉 Claire SecretWorldOfaBook

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This was my first ever dip into the fantasy world!

Also my first ever YA read. I assumed all YA books would be to young for me so I never tried but it was actually half way through this one that I discovered it wasn’t actually an adult book.

Being the first in a trilogy Caraval takes you along with two sisters, Scarlett and Tella who are desperate to be invited to the magical world of Caraval, a circus game that has been around for years and is almost impossible to get into! But the game isn’t all it makes out to be and if your not careful you can be totally lost within the game play and find your self either mad or dead…🎪

Welcome to Caraval, where nothing is quite what it seems . . .

Scarlett has never left the tiny isle of Trisda, pining from afar for the wonder of Caraval, a once‑a‑year week‑long performance where the audience participates in the show.

Caraval is Magic. Mystery. Adventure. And for Scarlett and her beloved sister Tella it represents freedom and an escape from their ruthless, abusive father.

When the sisters' long‑awaited invitations to Caraval finally arrive, it seems their dreams have come true. But no sooner have they arrived than Tella vanishes, kidnapped by the show's mastermind organiser, Legend.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But nonetheless she quickly becomes enmeshed in a dangerous game of love, magic and heartbreak. And real or not, she must find Tella before the game is over, and her sister disappears forever.

Finale by Stephanie Garber

Ok so this is the final book of the series…

Finale was the climatic conclusion this series needed, it was magical, enthralling and intense, everything you would expect the finale to be from this author.

Like all three books, I loved the split narratives between the sisters Tella and Scarlett, both so different on equally different paths that are at the same time running parallel with each other.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐧 ‑ 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞: 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥'𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐞.

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐝 . . .

We are introduced to the Fates in this book, more magic and plenty of puzzles to solve.

But thats what I love about this series, every different story is a new challenge and quite literally, anything can happen. The magic weaved throughout is stunning and endless, you are totally lost when wrapped up within the story and you find yourself wanting to be in the city walls, playing the game, even though you know its equally dangerous as it is fascinating.

Following on from where we left off in Legendary, we meet with romantic entanglements, family conflicts and most of all the threat of the Fates themselves!

I loved The Fates, each one totally different and powerful, Legend being a fallen Fate himself says it all, I think the author did an amazing job of bringing this magic to life, with each fate having a different ability and some being ind whilst others just pure mean, only out for themselves.

If you want to start your journey into the Fantasy realm then this one is the one to start with. I guarantee you will one lost within the fantastical and magical world, wanting a ticket to Caraval yourself. You will love the characters and the little sexual tension that she does include is just the right amount to keep your mind guessing...

A Court Of Thorns And Roses

by Sarah J Maas

This was my second series in the fantasy world of books to read and by far my most favourite. I was lucky enough to be accepted onto the Tandemcollective

Summer readalong for the entire series!!

The ACOTAR series is by far the most gripping and unputdownable set of fantasy reads that I have came across, the characters are all written so brilliantly that you feel like you do not want to put the book down and come away from your new found friends, that all live a much more exciting existence.

It’s sexy, provocative and bizarrely makes you want to become something other then human.

This one had it all. Suspense, sexual tension and a fantastic plot that see Feyre playing mind games to keep herself alive and to free the man she loves…

Although you will be left guessing by the end of book two as to where Feyres heart really wants to go…

Ok. So out of all four books within this series, this one is by far my most favourite.

The bond between Feyre and Rhysand has completely won me over. I absolutely loved the two of them as a couple and the power that they hold alongside there team is just fabulous!

The war scenes are just epic! I was, quite literally on the edge of my seat…

A Court Of Frost And Starlight

by Sarah J Maas

The fourth instalment to the series is really a novella.

It gives you an insight as to where everyone is after the war.

As you find out from the first book there is a whole cast of characters, each one holding a different strength in the story and equally as important…

𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐅𝐞𝐲𝐫𝐞, 𝐑𝐡𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐢𝐧.

This book lets you know what happened after the war with Hyburn and what they are all doing. A kind of round up to the series which was a nice little read to finalise Feyres journey and to prepare you for the next set of books which is her sisters journey Nesta Archeron….

A Court Of Silver flames

This is the first book in the Nesta Archeron series.

As Feyres sister, she along side her other sister Elaine both became high Fae, forced against their Will into the cauldron back in book two.

This is Nesta journey….

She is constantly angry, blames herself for her fathers death, even though she herself killed Hyburn and stopped the war and point blank refuses to accept the bond with Cassian.

She has a great, dark power that she stole from the cauldron and in this story she finds herself and her power.

As with all the previous books, I was kept totally on the edge of my seat again and I can not wait to see what character this author writes about next.
