Review: Ask for Andrea by Noelle W.Ihli
Every so often a book comes along that you cannot put down and #AskforAndrea was exactly that for me. I went in expecting a chilling thriller, but what I got was so much more: heart-stopping, emotional, and completely addictive.
The story follows three women - Meghan, Skye, and Brella - each caught in the orbit of one truly despicable man.
From the start, you feel the dread creeping in, and as the story unravels, their POVs pull you into a web of lies, manipulation, and survival. I adored the non-linear timeline, past and present weaving together, drip-feeding revelations at the perfect moments which made this book so unputdownable.
Meghan, Skye, and Brella weren’t just characters on a page - they felt real, flawed, and heartbreakingly relatable. Reading their chapters gave me this almost omniscient sense of dread, I could see the danger forming before they did. It made me want to scream warnings while also hoping desperately they’d be okay.
And that man. Manipulative, calculating, an absolute arse. I haven’t despised a character so much in a long time, which made it all the more satisfying when his wife finally woke up. That scene was a proper ‘about time’ moment.
What really lingered with me was the way Ihli wrote about memory and the afterlife - stepping into your memories as though they were rooms you could walk back into. Beautiful, unsettling, and oddly comforting. It made me hope that maybe after death, we can relive the best moments of our lives.
One of the best thrillers I’ve read in a while, with the perfect blend of psychological tension, supernatural threads, and raw emotion. I’ll definitely be diving into her backlist next.
